New 1st Team Manager Appointed

After an extensive search for our new 1st team manager we are delighted to announce that Glynn Stephens will take over at Alfold FC

The Club had received 12 excellent applications for the post, these were narrowed down to 4 applicants that all would have done a fantastic job, but after the interview process was completed it was felt that Glynn Stephens was the right candidate, it was felt his ambitions and desire to succeed matched those of the club.

Glynn’s appointment comes with vast experience in the game, as a youth player he was with both Wimbledon and Crystal Palace, when unable to establish himself at that level he made the transition into Non League and played for a number of clubs including Molesey, Ruislip, Chertsey, Hampton and Dulwich Hamlet.

Whilst still playing he took he managers role at Dorking FC in the then Ryman League before moving onto various roles at Egham Town, Ashford Town (Middlesex) Chessington and Hook, a second spell at Dorking FC, Horley Town & most recently at Colliers Wood United where he will quickly return but this time in the away dug out in a early pre-season friendly on Friday 2nd July 2021.

The Club Secretary Wayne Mouring spoke with Glynn just after his appointment who commented “ I would like to thank the Committee at Alfold Football Club for this opportunity, I was hugely impressed with the work that’s going on at this very progressive club, the professionalism and its ambition, along with the quality of the presentation provided to me, the clubs’ ambitions match my own and I believe we can have a successful partnership for years to come., the hard work starts now and I will work tirelessly to serve the club, it’s representatives and supporters in the right way and strive to bring the success the club aspires to fruition as quickly as possible”.

Glynn has already began planning for the season ahead bringing together his backroom staff who we look forward to announcing, speaking with existing senior players that the club are keen to retain and new faces that will undoubtedly strengthen the squad along with the crop of exciting young players that represented the club so well in the SCFL Supplementary Cup.

The Club Vice-Chairman Sam Foster commented “after a thorough and extensive search for our new manager it was decided Glynn was the right person to help take the club forward, he showed an enthusiasm and desire for the role along with huge experience & extensive knowledge & network within the game, we welcome Glynn to the club and look forward to a bright and successful future working together”

There will not be a moment for Glynn and his staff to get prepared as pre-season will start this Saturday 19th June 2021 at Alfold FC, details will be released later this week.
