Alfold FC U18’s March on to next round in FAYC

The 1-0 score line did not reflect the dominant display from the young Alfold side who march into the next round to face a strong Lewes FC side in the next round.

It was a lovely evening in Alfold where the home crowd eagerly awaited the young home sides debut in the biggest of Youth Cups, they would not be disappointed as the young home squad featuring fifteen 15yr olds & three 16yr olds went on to produce a dominant display showing quality, desire & a strong mentality in equal measure.

This side which will surely be one of the youngest in the competition showed a maturity beyond their years to secure a 1-0 win with a early goal from Charlie Martin, the score line should have been far greater & much more comfortable finish to the game than it was, but a lack of composure & some outstanding saves from the away keeper meant it would be a nail biting finish with Abbey Rangers giving it everything to nick a goal to take the game to penalties, but with some resolute defending & the luck of the post Alfold saw out the game & ran out thoroughly deserved winners.

We will now face the highly rated Lewes FC U18’s who have had plenty of success in recent seasons with their U18’s a challenge we will look forward to & relish.
